Do you have a personal mantra or quote that you keep going back to?
I like this quote by David Whyte: “Your artistry is directly connected to your vulnerability.”
What are some of the valuable lessons you’ve learned in life or in work?
To always move toward what feels luminous and inspiring and aligned.
Are there any particular creative minds that inspire you?
I love Leonard Cohen — I’ll reread his interviews for inspiration. I love not only his songwriting but his way of approaching life. He talks about trusting the internal truth of a song, which I think can be applied to many situations — allowing oneself to trust what “feels true.”
Tell us about one of your most cherished objects.
My brother makes guitars and he gave me the very first one he made. That’s meant a lot to me.
What are you currently working on?
I’m putting out a new record this year so I’ve been working on all that goes into that — making visuals, preparing shows, etc.
What is your favorite place?
Los Angeles is one of my favorite places. I moved here seven years ago — I’m so in love with this town and the community here.
Do you have upcoming travel plans?
I’m in Nashville right now songwriting and hope to come back regularly. And I have friends & family in Belgium and Austria I'm hoping to get to visit in the next year or so.
What do you love about your Marie Turnor pieces?
I love the simplicity of Marie Turnor bags and that it’s a local, woman owned business!
